So I’m extremely close to ordering an M2 and selling/trading in my MK7 GTI. I can afford payments on the M and still have enough to throw some money into savings every month. I’m still young and don’t have a family so I’m telling myself to just do it. Don’t want to buy a house at this point in my life as I’m active duty military so I’m going to move every few years. If anyone is interested in a modified but very well taken care of MK7 and you’re in the Texas area, San Antonio specifically let me know.

We have very nearly the same car. Excellent choice. I cannot fathom going back to the stock shift knob after putting my Cobb Tuning one on.
What springs are you running? And do you have spacers? I have 35-offset Summer wheels with 235 tires and am worried about rubbing if I lower it. Looking at VWR springs or maybe the APR ones if they ever release them.

I’m running ST XTA coilovers with no spacers. Wheels are 45-offset i believe with 235 tires. I don’t have any rub. I did when i put my wheels on but i did what’s called the fender screw mod and that took care of it. If you aren’t aware of it google it, it’s been something people have been doing since the MK5 Golfs.

That is a great looking GTI!

Do it. I bought an M3 when I was 22, and it was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I’m 32 now, and I’ve still got it.

I kind of feel that every M2 I’ve seen so far is that blue though.

I’ve seen it in gray. It’s pretty anonymous.

Have you talked to a dealer about how long it will take to be delivered? Paul from the Everyday Driver podcast put his deposit down over a year ago, and just asked for his money back since they still didn’t have a production date. Enthusiast Auto has a couple somehow, and there’s some used ones out there.
And yes, I wouldn’t buy a house now, I think you’d be buying at a peak. Prices will correct a bit once inventory starts going back up.

Can’t be worse than Yas Marina Blue.

Have you test driven the M2? Drove it on CA backroads in MT, impressive but I would be looking for a 1M or something else for the money.
